I am not in any way pissed at you but I wanted to let you know exactly where we were coming from. None of us, especially me, do anything half ass. We all work together, party together, and play together. The reason we love the thought of PB is that we play FPS games together online, thought PB would be much more fun, would get our FAT ARSES out of our comp chairs and make us active doing the same thing... shooting people. I take everything serious, just as I built my computer for FPS gaming from scratch so I knew it was the best. I take this new hobby of PB just as serious. It's not so I can fit in or look cool... at my age I think I'm over that. I bought pads so I didn't get hurt, paintball pants and jerseys are made for the game and protection, and the marker is just so I know I am not out gunned. I hope you get me now. I would love to play with you sometime and hopefully I will see you on the field. No hard feelings it's just a misunderstanding. Just please remember that people entering any new sport come from all different ages, mind sets, goals, and dedication. Don't pre-judge or blast them, just show some support and if they prove to be fly-by-night ballers.... THEN BLAST THEM!!! -Fath Donkey Killers !!!

and yes, if i could do it all over again and wasn't BROKE when i started, i would have started with my UL'ed PM6 (didnt like the ego's till 07 cuz they didnt fit my tiny little hands), then again, there is a certain pride in taking an ION and upgrading the crap out of it peice by peice cuz u cant afford to drop 1300 bucks all at once and u end up with a gun that is yours and yours alone. it works the way it does because u built it that way. kinda like ur comp. edit: oh yeah, and for the ironman 1v1s, everyone is to get big ball from wal-mart, aka marbles.

I think some of the things that are coming out here are the generational differences of when we started...when Brian, CockerGreg, Charlie and Myself
started...you really had no choice but to buy a brick with a trigger and mod the hell out of it. The only way to take the equipment out of the equation you had
to mod it...upgrade the bolt, trigger work, milling...and trigger work back then was drilling, polishing and changing springs...not just adjusting set screws
most of the other guys on this forum had tons of options to choose from when starting out (and fair comparisons with cheap tags). many people can come out with hi-end equipment and rough it out, get by and pull a few wins Back in, lets say...1996 if you came out with a marker fresh out the box...with limited playing experience...you got your shit pushed in quickly...there was not a magic button to make you shoot 18bps...you were lucky to pull 4 or 5...and if you knew your marker and played...you were able pull 8 - 10...so the game was the real difference then. so its mostly prospective that makes the difference in opinion...as an older player, I've seen dozens of kids come out with the shinniest new toy released and play like a retarded monkey...taking no care in learning the science of the game...therefore, we (old guys) are quick to offer the advice that the equipment doesn't matter...and you'll see all summer when see guys with Ego's get out played by guys with pumps...its mearly a cautionary statement/disclaimer that the old guys say first... |

I am an old guy... I guess I am like the guy that can afford the car but can't look good in it anymore!
I bought what I could to make me as well equipped as anyone else, now I will spend my time learning the game, because getting 'r' done physically just ain't gonna happen. But I like playing and will do everything I can to get better. Even if it means getting my stuff pushed in till I understand the game and how to play it well at my age. I am guessing at 35 you have to play different than at 12...
